We are thrilled to sit down with the founders of Happy ppl, a new oral care and gum brand that is changing the way we chew gum and have fun at the same time. Because who doesn't need more fun? :)
We LOVE your gum! What's the story behind your brand? Who are you?
We’re a husband and wife team Hannah and Daniel - "HanDan" - and we started Happy ppl with a mission to make every mouth a happier, healthier place.
After suffering from dental issues for many years, Hannah was in search of products that would help improve her oral wellness. She discovered that chewing gum sweetened with xylitol can reduce plaque buildup and prevent cavities. She was also shocked to find out that most gum contains plastic—ewwwww, gross, are you sh*&ting me?
A life-long gum chewer, Hannah decided to create one of her own. Gum that’s good for oral care and the planet. Gum that’s sugar-free, aspartame-free, 100% plastic-free, and tasty as all eff.
What an incredible story! So, what is the difference between Happy Ppl and any other gum in the market?
Most gum has an ingredient called “gum base”, which is usually made from chemical polymers like polyvinyl acetate, a plastic or rubber found in other products like bottles and tires. Google it. It’s pretty wild.
A Lot of gum also uses sugar, which is terrible for your teeth, and causes cavities.
Our gum is good for your mouth. It’s sweetened with xylitol to prevent cavities and plaque buildup. We also use natural gum base from chicle trees in Mexico. No plastic. We’re also vegan, biodegradable, plant-based, and non-GMO.
That IS pretty wild. How did you come up with the concept for your gum?
We both love chewing gum, but don't love that there's harmful ingredients in gum like plastic, aspartame, sugar, casein peptone, BHT and more. So, we created this gum to provide a healthier alternative for people looking to care for their mouths on the go.
So cool! We want more! Do you have any innovative products coming down the pipeline?
We're a budding oral care brand, so we plan on eventually coming out with a full line of oral care products.
You have some fun flavors, are your products safe for kids to use? What's your favorite flavor?
Our products are totally safe for kids ages 2 and up. Xylitol is a natural sugar found in the fiber of many fruits and vegetables. It's recommended by pediatric dentists to prevent cavities and reduce plaque.
Hannah: My favorite flavor is cinnamon. It has a spicy kick that I find invigorating!
Daniel: My favorite is also cinnamon, because that's Hannah's favorite.
